Of all the animals that get hit by boat propellers, I can't think of any I'd rather be than a Manatee. Sure, sloths get to hang in trees all day, but manatees don't even hang, they float. Sea cows, dugongs, mermaids, whatever you call them, they know how to have a good time. Also, the fish and all the nice blue water are pretty fabulous. Mel knows what she's doing.

July 40:

The big 8-0. In most units of time, 80 of something to use another unit instead. Most units of a lot of things, for that matter. This one is, again, from Diesel Sweeties. Classic gaming and recycling? Sign me up. The pixelation, as always, doesn't hurt.

I tried the whole flickr blog-o-matic thing, but I wasn't crazy about it. As far as I'm concerned, the point of this is to have giant pictures of my shirts, not little ones off to the side. I should still be able to get all the entries modified to host from their, though, in time. My old school hosting is finally down now that I've been graduated for three months, and I had to take down apache on my server until I get around to updating things. This shirt came from Blair. I really can't pass up a shirt with a picture of Alan Greenspan.

Bit of a backlog there. Here are a number of them.

June 12:

You can't see it all that well, so I guess I should have gotten a better picture, but this is my shirt from the Purdue Russian Club. Russian at Purdue is a really good time. I encourage everyone to enroll at Purdue on transfer there and take it. Unless, you know, you don't want to or whatever. I got the minor and got into the Slavic Honor Society. очень хороший, if you ask me, much like this shirt.

June 13:

My mom got me this one, along with some pants that have bananas on them. I like my mom. My mom knows.

June 14:

I got this on clearance even though it says Sonic X on the side, since it's mostly stuff that also applies to non-X Sonic. I do enjoy me some good speed-tacular platforming. Also, this was taken in front of the old Purdue basketball court floor up on the wall at Buffalo Wild Wings. We go there for trivia on Wednesdays. They have a DJ, and he asks questions, and then we win free food and beer and things. Or sometimes we don't. Frequently, however, we do. That night we won free beer for having the best team name in the first round and free food for having the best score in the second. Hooray for trivia. Good times.

June 15:

I think I got this during a buy one get one half off rock shirts sale. I like Pink Floyd, and Dark Side is still my favorite. It's not long, but it feels long the whole thing is very well-spent. I studied the album a little bit for May Term senior year, along with OK Computer and The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner. That was a fun class. That was a fun May Term.

June 17:

I took a lot of pictures on Saturday. Many of them were of Swans, and a couple were of the General Lee we saw on the interstate. Of the ones originally intended to be my Shirt of the Day Picture of the Day, I think this one shows the shirt the best. I also took a number of pictures at a Pirate miniature golf course, including this one:

If I ever have too much money I want to have a miniature golf course. Then I'd practice and get good. I like the pirate one, so I might try to do something themed like that, or a space one, or computers, or I might just go classic castles and windmills and stuff. It would be a tough call. I'd probably need to eventually expand to several differently themed courses, and possibly a whole amusement park if money just fell out of the sky and landed on me or something. I guess I could probably think of other things to buy too. I usually can.

June 18:

Mel got me this shirt. I like The Simpsons, and I'm in favor of most things involving grooving. That's all for now, and I've missed a few days, but I'll try to get back into things soon, and seriously see about updating more regularly. I always forget how much fun this is when I'm not doing it.

Shirts of the Weekend

So this weekend I went home for my joint graduation party with my brother, and now that I'm back I can put up pictures. It was a good time. I got to see family and friends I see about once a year and some people I see even less often than that. Unfortunately, I was a huge dope and took two shirts I had already worn. I guess when I've got almost 5 and half dozen, that sort of thing happens. I should go through and take out all the ones I've already worn

June 3:

This is less a shirt, and more my high school graduation gown. I had to give back the college one since I only rented it, so for pictures with my brother I broke out my old colors. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the hat or a couple other things, but it was still a good time.

June 5:

I've gotta say, I'm a big fan of AMD. I started buying them based on the huge price gap for what I understood was comparable performance, and I'm still kicking around a few socket A's. I'm currently racing Pete to be the last kid on the block with a 64. Anyhoo, it seemed like everybody but me had an AMD shirt for a long time, so last fall Mel gave me one of hers, which was very nice of her. I like Mel.

So we've got two days here. The first is another Purdue shirt. I have a lot of these, so it sort of surprises me that this is only the second. They're easy for relatives and people to get, since Purdue comes up a lot of places, and I do enjoy them. I think I've had a very good undergraduate experience.

May 10:

And today, we have Shirt of the Day on the road, at a local eatery for lunch. This is another shirt I got last weekend. We took pictures on the trip for graduation-type pictures. I got dressed up and we took pictures around Fermilab. Kind of awesome for a Physics student. I also took lots of random pictures, since I like random pictures and have more space on my memory card than sense. This shirt goes well with a good number of my pants.

May 11:

Adam did a most of the real work, and I mostly just showed up that day and helped wrangle food for a bunch of college students who appreciated the food and were happy to be there and generally agreeable.
So I'm back. We'll see how this works out. I got a small tripod at a Science Surplus store for about $3, so I'm taking pictures myself. Here's one of a shirt I got the next day (yesterday, in fact,) at a Goodwill in a suburb of Chicago. I got a bunch of books, and some other shirts which will should also make appearances here, possibly along with more information about the trip. Mainly, even if the posts are short, I'm going to try to keep it going longer this time. I have more shirts now, and I've graduated, which may mean I have more time, or it may mean I need to spend more time looking for jobs. In any case, I'll see what I can do.

May 8:

These are both old ones, I think both from the first summer of Hawaiian shirts. The first one I like pretty well because it's nice and bright, and the second is fun and black, both of which I like, and also works well for wearing over other shirts, something I've used it for a lot. I don't wear Hawaiian shirts over other shirts as much as I used too, but I still usually wear this one over my Offspring shirt.

November 21:

November 22:

I got this shirt in Florida during Spring Break of my senior year, along with two other shirts that have yet to appear here. I drove down with Derek and Matt, and we stayed and Derek's grandmother's place and mostly just bummed around a lot. We went to Disney World one day and tried to figure out what the castle was made out of, and saw Resident Evil. It was a good time. Matt and I got screwdrivers that are several feet long (each of us got one phillips and one straight, to be versatile.) We've determined that the intent of this shirt seems to be a Cuban theme, what with the cigars, and the menus and things.

November 17:

Ha ha! I had my browser set to accept images from originating websites only, so I couldn't see all of my pictures, while everyone else could probably see them just fine! Hi-larious! Ah, foibles. In any case, here's more pretense of subtlety. A busy, yet subdued print. This is an old one, probably from the first summer. It's a nice soft cotton one, so it's good for the wearing and the comfort and such. I probably had a solid colored t-shirt to go under it at some point. I wonder what happened to those. My mom initially got them for me to go with a lot of my hawaiian shirts, but I haven't seem most of them in a while. Huh. Also, in extremely unrelated news, I still haven't played Prime 2. Lame.

November 16:

My current source of image hosting seems to be not working quite as it used to. I was just going to run this one from an alternate source, but that doesn't seem to be working either. Unfortunately, that also means none of the other images work at present. I'll see if I can get this taken care as soon as I can. In the meantime, those of you who are clever can take a look at this image, as well as the others, using a slightly more roundabout method.

I don't remember when I got this one, but it's fairly faded, so it's probably old. It's certainly old enough that I don't remember it, but then, that doesn't mean a whole lot. I like my colorful hawaiian shirts pretty well, but sometimes it's nice to have a vague pretense or subtlety, or something along that line. The black ones at least go better with my black pants, too.

November 15:

More Shirts of More Days

Maybe things will go more like this from now on. I don't know. Here are some shirts.

I got this at Goodwill (more goodwill shirts, the last one was too,) for a dollar fifty or so. I also got some Matrix Reloaded posters, since they were a dollar or so. This shirt just entertains me for some reason. Maybe it's the font.
November 3:

Now, Shirt of the Day on the road. I think I actually wore this at least once during the original run, and/or possibly since then, but couldn't get it photographed for some reason. This is me helping Mel's sister move into her new apartment. I got this shirt when Ohio State won the championship in 2002. My mom went to Ohio State, and she still follows their football, although I don't know that she pays as much attention to the other sports. Her friend from college is really into the football, and we were at her house watching when they won, so she ordered everybody shirts. I don't wear it around campus as much, so I tend to take it with me when I go home. This weekend in particular would have been a poor time to wear it.
November 6:

The big 5-0. I suppose this should have happened sometime in July, but oh well. I ogled this shirt at a store in the mall for a semester and a half, and then Mel got it for me for Valentine's day. My dad got me started on Led Zeppelin sometime before I can actually remember. I grew up on random classical (from him and Looney Tunes,) and Whole Lotta Love. Someday I'll save up my money and get the box with all of their albums. Someday.
November 10:

I like Brak. I like Brak a lot. I really enjoyed cartoon planet in general, and Brak was always my favorite. His songs are a lot of fun. If anybody knows where I can get a copy, digital or otherwise, of Brak Presents "The Brak Show" Starring Brak, I would be very appreciative. I've already got a copy of the album and the MST3K Movie which I've heard inspired the whole thing. The first time I ever saw Adult Swim, which I think was the first time it was on, Chris was at my house for the weekend, and the TV Guide Channel said The Brak Show would be on, so we assumed it was the aforementioned special and flipped out. I enjoyed what it actually turned out to be because of the sheer randomness, although not as much as the special, and probably not as much as at least some of the other stuff in the Adult Swim lineup. I love Home Movies, as I've mentioned, and I like Harvey Birdman as well. The only part of Mission Hill I cared for was the theme song ("Italian Leather Sofa," by Cake,) but I think they just bought the rights to that from whoever coudln't get its ratings up in the first place. As for the specifics of the shirt, I don't know much about anything on it other than Brak, I just got it off the clearance rack.
November 11:

Yet another Diesel Sweeties shirt, my most recent, in fact, and probably the last 2X I'll order (at least from them, possibly in general.) I love the slogan on this, and the pixelated pirate flag is pretty entertaining as well.
November 12:

Lastly, the shirt of today. This was the first thing I bought off the clearance rack at Hot Topic, and possibly the first thing I bought there at all. I had missed the chance to get a cheap "Revenge of the Nerds" shirt, and I wasn't about to let this slip through my fingers. I don't have a lot of grey shirts. I've got a Hawaiian shirt that's got a lot of grey in it, and a grey dress shirt, and some grey purdue shirts, but I have more shirts in most other colors. Except maybe brown. Not much brown.
November 14:

I've gotten back into the picture-taking habit, now I just need to work on the picture-uploading habit.

If I had thought about it, I would have picked a special shirt for this, but I didn't think about it. I got this at Goodwill for a buck or so. If you zoom in, you may notice it doesn't pixelate quite like you'd expect. The graphic has sort of a newspaper-like look to it when you see it close up; you can see lots of little dots. It's interesting, and it was cheap.
October 28:

On Friday, for the third year in a row, we attended the Purdue production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I think that's about all I need to say. If you want to see the other person in this picture update his site even less frequently than I update mine, head on over to Culturegeist. He's Adam, in case he ever posts something.
October 29:

I got this one a couple years ago, when I saw Wesley live at Earlham College. I got him to sign the liner notes for my copies of the first two volumes of his greatest hits. He wouldn't start until he got someone to bonk heads with him. After he did start, he regularly started up his background music and then cut it after a measure or two, just to fake us out. He yelled at us for trying to get him to play certain songs too; he had no intention of deviating from his setlist. He ended every song that night with "Rock over London, rock on Richmond, Indiana." I'm glad I saw him when I got the chance. He enjoyed what he was doing more than most people ever will, and he got to make a living doing it. That's probably The American Dream, or something. I don't know. Say what you will about him, he was honest, and he had a good time. I think those are things we can all strive for.
October 30:

Another Goodwill find, I thought it was a good joke, with a hilarious logo (see inset) and was surprised to find the place actually exists. Maybe I'll get out there someday.
October 31:

I had sort of a half-assed Halloween costume on Friday, but it got replaced by Rocky, and I didn't really dress up after that. The shirt I wore for that will show up later, however, and I might take a picture of it with the rest of what I was wearing.

As I mentioned before, I have more Russian shirts. Here is one. It means "God Bless America." I wore it for my test in Russian Lit today.
November 1:

And, since it's technically Tuesday here, I'm going to keep up my momentum and post what I'll be wearing later today. This is my opinion, and I certainly wouldn't dissuade you from agreeing with it or acting on it, but the main important thing is just to get out and vote at all, today if you live in the US, or whenever you can here and elsewhere. I don't really have any interest in starting actual debates here; there are better forums for that. I don't know that I have enough readership at this point to notice or start anything, though, so I don't think it'll be a problem.
November 2:

I repeated a shirt by mistake, and then got home late a few nights and didn't get around to taking pictures, and one thing lead to another, and here we are. Here we weren't I suppose would be more appropriate, but it just sounds silly. I started doing this for me, and I kept doing it for people, and I started doing it again for people, but I think I want to keep doing it again for me. I realized last night that I really enjoy the picture-taking, and thinking of what the shirts mean to me, and the whole process. I plan to keep updating, but for the time being it might be safer to think of this as "Shirt of the Unspecified Time Period." I'll shoot for as much regularity as possible, but I'm mainly just going to have fun with it, and not let it stress me out. If anyone is still reading, thank you. I'll try to get through my collection yet.

Mel got this for me to go with my Matrix shirt. It has some falling code on the back. What I'd like is a black tie with some falling code on it, but the sort of person that would want a tie like that would have occasion to wear it infrequently enough that I doubt one will ever be produced. Someday I may make my own, but for now I'll just have to learn to live with the yearning.
October 27:

Another shirt from Diesel Sweeties. This was from the second pair of shirts I got from them. It combines my great enjoyment of pixelation and digital things with my fascination with Russian and Soviet things. I've also got some reproduction Soviet Propaganda Posters, an Ushanka, a KGB Pocketwatch, and a couple more shirts will be making their appearances here in due time. In high school I tried starting a McCarthyist club, but the original sponsor pulled out (I think he was afraid we would expose him to the HUAC), and by the time we found another sponsor, it was past the deadline for submitting club forms. The eagle-eyed donation attendant prompted me to save a copy of the Communist Manifesto that my family almost donated to Goodwill, and I kept it around in case I needed to plant it in somebody's room.
October 20:

I got this shirt when I went to Washington, D.C. with my mother, my brother, and my sister. My mom was going to the NAEYC conference, and she decided just to bring us, since my sister and I hadn't been there before and my brother hadn't in a good number of years. While I was there, I also got a shirt with a map of the subway system, which will appear here eventually, a hat which will probably not appear here, and some ties, which may or may not show up. Among the ties are a tie with Lorentz transforms and a picture of Einstein, a tie with portions of the Periodic Table, and a tie with american flags and donkeys. It was a good trip. The hotel was nice, with a basement entrance to the subway system, which got us to the zoo, among other things. We saw Pandas there, and free-range Golden Lion Tamarins. Free-range monkeys entertain me. We went to various parts of The Smithsonian, since it's free and all, and took a bus tour of the standard sites. As cliche as this sounds, the Lincoln Memorial doesn't really look as big as it feels. I also liked the Jefferson Memorial. Also, while there, I purchased an ice cream bar from a vendor in the shape of Bubbles the Powerpuff Girl. I'll stop here so that if I do remember more about the trip, I can mention it when I post the other shirt.
October 19:

I'm not entirely sure if I remember where I got this shirt. I think it was at the same after-christmas sale at Sears that I mentioned before. If not, I'm not sure.
October 18:

We did laundry, so all the other shirts I wore are now all mixed up, so I'm just going to do today's. My dad got this for me. He said there were a bunch of Star Wars shirts wherever he got it, but not very many in an XXL, which is what I was trying to buy at the time, so he got me this one. I like the ship. Ships are fun, and I like this one better than the trade federation battleships or the naboo fighters. Neither of those particularly enthrall me, but you see them all over the place. I don't get it.
October 17:

Yeah. I'm lame. I'll see about doing double updates until I catch up, and I'm going to try to get back into it. Like I said, I'm lame.
I got this first shirt when I went to the first meeting of S.S. Voyager, a Purdue Sci-Fi/Fantasy club, my Freshman year. I shot nerf darts at a poster of a lego darth vader, and scored a headshot and one other hit, so I got my first pick of the prizes. I already had a DVD of The Matrix, but I took the VHS they were offering just so I could get the shirt. I suppose that was lame of me, but I really wanted the shirt, and I did win. Luke used to have a Matrix shirt with actual purple letters, but Luke also actually bought his. He was more hardcore than I was. His Latin teacher asked if the shirt had anything to do with the uterus, which is apparently another meaning of the word.
October 7:

This one I got on clearance with three other shirts, none of which have yet appeared. It's similar to another shirt, which has more like twelve mushroom sprites but no words, but I got this one because I recognize more of the mushrooms. The other one was listed on the internet as "The Fungus Among Us," which reminds me of old Incubus, and, by an association no one reading this is likely to get, At The Drive In. Clearly, the world should have listened to more of my radio shows.
October 8:

Yesterday was bad, and I called a do-over, so no shirt for then. Today's shirt was part of my birthday present from Mel. Two other parts of it are on the camera from Toronto. I'm probably going home this weekend, and possibly to far-off lands, so things may or may not have pictures taken of them in a timely fashion. I'll keep everyone posted as new info develops.
October 6:
